How to be a good mom? To be a highly effective mom you don’t need to be constantly in control. You don’t need to be Ms. Perfect-Head-of-the-PTA.. By definition; being effective is all about getting results. So to be an effective mom, you simply need to try to get results you and your family are happy with.
1. HOW TO BE A GOOD MOM: TAKE TIME OUT
Did you know that doing nothing actually helps you be a more effective mom? How does that work, I hear you ask? By taking time out to do something you enjoy, you give yourself the headspace and downtime to recharge, which means when you go back to mom duties you are reenergized and filled with peace and patience. Whether its treating yourself to a spa treatment, going to the gym, curling up with a good book, or simply spacing out to some TV; give yourself a break and enjoy these necessary moments without feeling guilty.
2. PARTAKE IN THE 6 P’s
Prior Preparation and Planning Prevent a Poor Performance. These are the 6 P’s every mom should keep in mind. Now, we are not saying you need to plan every little minute detail of your lives, not only is that ridiculous, its entirely unrealistic and would put too much pressure on just about anybody. We are talking about staying on track when you need to get things done, and not getting too distracted.
Some moms find it helpful to write a ‘To-do list’, while others may just need to run through the things they have to do in the their mind the night before. Whatever works for you. Make a little time to plan so you don’t miss key dates and find yourself pushed for time to finish family tasks
3. MULTI-TASKING MOM
Multi-tasking is the savior for many a mom. Finding several tasks or chores that can be combined to save time and energy can really pay dividends by giving you more time to spend with your kids and energy to do other things together. So, the next time you head out to the store for groceries, complete errands at the same time, whilst running through some verbal math puzzles with the kids!
4. LET IT GO
How to be a good mom? Just like Elsa in Frozen, sometimes you have to just let things go. We don’t mean letting the dishes build up in sink and clothes spill out of the laundry basket (although if this does happen from time to time don’t beat yourself up about it, we’ve all been there). Letting go is all about not sweating the small stuff and prioritizing the important things in life. Make it your mission to only give your focus to things that will produce a worthwhile result for you and your family.
5. SLEEP SOUNDLY
Effective moms understand the importance of getting good sleep. To be your most awesome self in the day you need to rest the night properly during the night. It can be all too easy to lose precious sleep time by catching up with the many things you have to get done on a daily basis, but if you miss an hour of sleep every night, within a week you have already lost an entire night’s worth of slumber.
